Spotlight: Oconee County Habitat for Humanity
Oconee County Habitat for Humanity was in the Spotlight in Habitat for Humanity International’s Quarterly Tithe Newsletter. The article was distributed to all Habitat affiliates around the world. We appreciate the recognition and look forward to many more years of partnership with our parent organization.
The article stated:
Each quarter, we will celebrate a Habitat organization that exemplifies extraordinary commitment to tithe and global engagement. We are thrilled to kick off this new feature by shining a light on Oconee County Habitat for Humanity, an intermediate-sized affiliate in Seneca, South Carolina.
What sets Oconee County Habitat apart? The organization is entirely volunteer-run and consistently tithes 10% on its unrestricted funds every quarter — a powerful expression of faith and generosity. Year after year, their organization ranks among the top tithers by geographic service area size, including the fiscal year 2025 list, and it is closing in on the Sam Mompongo Award for giving $1 million in lifetime tithe.
“We are blessed to have an all-volunteer organization that is dedicated to the Habitat mission, and we feel strongly that our tithe expresses our gratitude and thanks for all that our volunteers do — our mission is not possible without them,” shares George Smith, board treasurer of Oconee County Habitat for Humanity.
