Oconee County Habitat for Humanity Dedicates 134th House

On Saturday, August 16th, 2025 Oconee County Habitat for Humanity (OCHFH) held a dedication for a completed house in Walhalla, SC. This dedication marks the 134th house completed and awarded by the organization. A gathering of Board Members, Construction Crew Volunteers, family, and friends gathered to celebrate with recipient Crystal Wright.

“We have brought together people and materials to build this house. We now pass it to you to make it a home by filling it with hugs, laughs, and memories,” said OCHFH 2nd Vice Chair Brandon Grace while leading the dedication.

Ms. Wright remarked it was a tough road from selection as a potential homeowner to actually moving into the home with her three children, Jaya, Jamaya, and Jay. However, she graciously thanked everyone who made it a reality, including her family and friends who supported her along the journey.

Seen at the celebration were multiple members of the OCHFH Volunteer Construction Crew. Still sweaty from working on another house all morning, several of them remarked how these dedications bring meaning and focus to their efforts to build these houses.

OCHFH dedicates four houses per year. These events honor the efforts of both volunteers and the homeowners to bring the the mission of OCHFH to reality.
